the surf club
the surf club is our drop-in centre at the new pier on the Durban beachfront. surfing, mentorship & a curriculum geared towards life-skills are available on a daily basis to vulnerable children.
The club is Run by a team of childcare workers, surf coaches and our qualified water safety crew.
members of our team engage in our 'street outreach' component. This involves going into the streets and so-called ‘shelters’ in downtown Durban, identifying children at risk and assessing their immediate needs. Our team develop a relationship of trust and the children are encouraged to join the program.
the surf house
our Durban hq and programs base is situated a few blocks back from the Durban waterfront. Our programs, including a computer training lab and daily nutrition program, are run from here.
The surf house also acts as an emergency safe house for girls needing to escape violence.
